The death occurred suddenly at Aberystwyth of Mr Robert Bickerstaff, who attained the advanced age of 83 years. He was the son of Mr & Mrs Thomas Bickerstaff, Mr Bickerstaff being the grieve of Cannee Home Farm, Kirkcudbright, under the Earl of Selkirk.

Another son, Mr Thomas Bickerstaff sr., Bombie Glen, was killed in Castle Douglas, by a car when taking cattle to market, leaving surviving Robert, and 2 sisters, Mrs Burns, Kirkcudbright, and Mrs Evans, London.

He began his working life as a Scotch draper in Manchester and later settled in Aberystwyth where me married Miss Yates of Liverpool who was engaged as a teacher in the town. Mrs Bickerstaff predeceased her husband some years ago.

A son, Mr Gordon Bickerstaff, and the only daughter, Miss Cissie Bickerstaff, died, leaving two brothers. Thomas William who is in charge of the firm's Bangor branch shop, and Robert Yates, in charge of the Aberystwyth branch.
