27 Jan 1922. Kirkcudbrightshire Advertiser.
There passed away suddenly on Friday at Drungans a well known and highly respected farmer, in the person of Mr Alexander Haining. He was the son of Mr Robert Haining, who removed from Shawhill to Drungans some 63 years ago, later also becoming tenant of adjoining farm Richardcairn. Mr Haining was then a lad of 17.
His wife predeceased him 36 years ago (and a daughter 3 years ago). He leaves a family of two sons (joint tenants) and three daughters.
The funeral, which took place on Tuesday to Auchencairn Cemetery, on the date of his 80th birthday, was very largely attended.
