The death occurred somewhat suddenly of Constable Hugh Malcolm McKinnon of the Maxwellton Division of the Stewartry Constabulary. He suffered influenza and pneumonia and died at Dumfries Infirmary at 9 o'clock on Tuesday evening.
He was only 22 years of age, a son of Mr McKinnon, shepherd with Mr G G B Sproat, at Borness, Borgue. He joined the police a little over a year ago.
The funeral took place yesterday at Borgue Churchyard. The chief constable, Mr Alexander Donald attended and the coffin was borne to the grave by police comrades.
