Kirkcudbrightshire Advertiser - Friday 3rd February 1922.

We regret to record the death of Mr John Kelly, butcher, which took place at his residence, St John Street, Creetown on Monday. Deceased, who had attained a ripe old age, was one of the best known men of the district.

He was, for over 70 years a member of Kirkmabreck Curling Club Creetown Bowling Club. He was a familiar figure at Newton Stewart market, which he visited every week for many years in pursuit of his business.

His wife predeceased him some years ago, and he is survived by a grown up family. The funeral took place at Minnigaff churchyard on Tuesday, and was largely attended.
