Kirkcudbrightshire Advertiser - Friday 17th February 1922.

The death occurred at the Barrhill, Dalbeattie on Saturday afternoon of ex-Bailie James Douglas McClymont, stationer, and one of the oldest businessmen of the burgh. He was 76 years of age and suffered a slight attack of influenza which developed into pneumonia.

He commenced business as a draper at 64 High Street, in the premises formerly occupied by Mr Robert Milligan. After his marriage to Mrs Joseph Callan he purchased the property at 38 and 40 High Street to which he transferred his drapery business. Later, however, he disposed of the drapery business and devoted his attention to the printing and stationery trade, and in the year 1883 founded the "Stewartry Observer," now under the proprietorship of Mr I A Callan.

Mr McClymont was the son of Captain McClymont and was born at Glencaple. He is survived by a family of five, one son (Mr J D McClyment, headmaster, Row) and four daughters. The funeral took place to Dalbeattie Cemetery and was largely attended.
