Mr John Baird was in his forty-first year, died on Wednesday of last week, after a lingering illness, at The Temperance Hotel, Corsock.

Mr Baird, who was the second son of Mr James Baird, joiner and Builder, Corsock, and had for the past 18 years been in the occupation of the hotel, and also carried on the work of the farm, which is attached.

Mr Baird is survived by a widow, one son and one daughter. He was buried at Corsock Churchyard on Saturday.
