Kirkcudbrightshire Advertiser, Friday 6th October 1922. (Extract).

The death of Mr Alexander Wilson, of Messrs G Wilson & Son, Dalbeattie, coal merchants and shipping agents, took place on Tuesday night.

He bore his 74 years well, his business acumen was unimpaired and he carried out his business with vigour. He began his business career in Liverpool and later took over the chief partnership of the Dalbeattie firm, which he soon built up to a large business between Water of Urr, Liverpool and foreign ports, which continued until the war years. Mr Wilson owned 4 vessels, the last of which was sold about a week before his death.

It might be recalled that he was one of the committee, presided over by Major Wellwood Maxwell, which carried through the arrangements for the erection of the Heston Lighthouse in 1893.

Mr Wilson was survived by his widow, and his funeral took place at Dalbeattie Cemetery.
