Carsphairn Gamekeeper's Death.

Within half a mile from his home, it was the sad fate of Mr David McMath, jun., Woodhead, Carsphairn, to be overcome by the snowstorm and lose his life through exposure on Wednesday evening last. Mr McMath, who recently underwent an operation for appendicitis, had visited Dalmellington for purpose of seeing the doctor. On the homeward journey the car in which he was travelling broke down and had to return to Dalmellington. Deceased decided to walk the 8 miles home.

On Christmas day 30 searchers were out looking for him but not until the following day, once a thaw had started in the snow, was he found near his home. He was survived by his father and family.
